On average books will say anywhere from 9 to 12 years with a few up to 15 years. I had two Chow Chows. My oldest passed away at 16. The remaining one, having just had her 15th birthday, only suffers from a bit of Arthritis plus some degree of hearing and vision loss.
If someone takes good care of the dog by exercising properly, feeding it high quality dog food (no people food) and takes it for checkups with the vet, dogs today can live longer than most books quote since the statistics become outdated from new technology and discoveries in medicine.
