Nuclear power is successfully used right now.
yes it has been used successfully in the past
That depends a LOT on what you mean by "it".
The biggest issue associated with nuclear power is determining what can be done with the radioactive waste.
Renewable power, that is wind, solar, tidal, wave, biomass, geothermal, hydro, is never likely to be able to make up the 20 percent of electricity generated at present in the US by nuclear. So if nuclear is not used, additional fossil fuel probably coal would have to be used. Which is preferable? There are other questions in the answered list on the general advantages and disadvantages of nuclear fission power
Nuclear energy exists in space in the stars, such as our sun. Some of the satellites and probes we have launched also contain small nuclear power plants to generate their operating power. The existence of sites in Gabon, where critical mass was achieved naturally and natural fission reactions happened, in the distant past (2 billion years back, perhaps) indicate that fission reaction probably happen elsewhere in the universe. It is thought, however, that these are probably very uncommon.

Yes: this is called cloning, and has been done successfully in the past.
Plutonium applications: - fuel for nuclear reactors - explosive for nuclear weapons - neutron source - isotopic power source - isotopic heat source - in the past, power source for pacemakers
Only since 1956

At the present time no country is "threatening nuclear war". A balance of power has existed for the past 60 some years.
