No. Writing was not easy for S.E. Hinton. One of the main reasons that she wrote The Outsiders is because of her friend Jimmy. She based this story partly off her life. Her friend Jimmy was like Johnny. He got severely hurt when people similar to the Socs jumped him in Oklahoma. So she decided to write about that for her language Arts class and her teacher gave her a D on it. Which was kind of a mistake on his part because every high schooler in American reads that book at some point!! So she did a good job on that book and i personally loved it!!
