Yes, I have. I went to a top surgeon who practices at Harley Street (and what was the West London Clinic), and who appeared many times on Make me Perfect and Ten Years Younger. He was also one of the founders of the school for cosmetic surgery at the West London Clinic - and because of this, I considered him to be one of the most highly skilled surgeons in the country.

I had Liposuction to my outer thighs, my knees and inner thighs. I expected the bruising to be gone in three months. It is six months now, and I can still clearly see where the lipo was done. I have bad damage to blood vessels including thread veins where they weren't before, and 'discolouration' to all areas, making it blindingly obvious that I've had something done. I still get stabbing pains in the area around my knees. More fat was taken out of the left inner thighs than the right, which is obvious even in jeans. I have cannula indentations under my buttocks on my right leg, which I do not have on the left, and I have been left with the appearance of worse cellultite than I had before.

I do have a nicer shape in clothes, but once they are off, I lose my confidence. I am a very confident person, and can live with this as it was my choice to pay to have this done, but I have to say that I am glad that I am mentally strong, as I am sure I would have become very depressed.

In short, I would say that this procedure has actually disfigured me, and I can't believe that the surgeons information wasn't very clear about potential problems. They make it very, very believable that the problem you go in with will be rectified, but skim over the ones they can potentially create.

I am less confident about my legs now than when I was before. The shape is better in clothes, but when incovered, it is too obvious that something dramatic has been done to them. Not really the look I was after.

I am currently on my 10th day of post-liposuction. I had liposuction on my thighs and stomach. My thighs hurt more than my stomach did over the past week and has the most bruising. Walking isn't too difficult but I do have a slight limp due to the swelling on my right leg and because my legs go numb often. Too much walking also causes my knees, calves and feet to swell as well. I do though however notice my thighs are no longer touching which makes me happy! The first week is the hardest but after that it gets easier.

What types of liposuction can be performed?

Tumescent liposuction, the most popular form of the procedure, can be performed on many parts of the male and female body. Abdominal liposuction is most often performed on women. This is an effective replacement for tummy-tucks for most patients. Many women who have an abdominal bulge after child birth or a hysterectomy find that liposuction can improve the look of their stomach. Arms are also a mostly female procedure and produce the highest rates of success. Many women choose to have the flap under the upper arm reduced with liposuction. Included in this area is the fat at the front of the underarm, just above the bra line, and at the back of the underarm as well. Liposuction of the breasts can be performed on both men and women. Women who have very large and mostly fatty breasts may find that they can attain results similar to or better than a traditional breast reduction surgery. Liposuction on breasts that are mostly glandular is not efficient nor is it recommended. Some men have significant fatty deposits in the breast area and see significant results with liposuction. Men suffering from gynecomastia, a condition where there is a large amount of glandular breast tissue, are not good candidates for this procedure. Many women find that the buttocks area contains a great deal of fat and achieve great results with liposuction of this area. The primary goal is to achieve a more rounded look, symmetry, and of course a smaller profile. The lower legs and ankles can be treated with liposuction, however the procedure is more risky because most of this fat is superficial. These areas are more susceptible to nerve and blood vessel damage. Liposuction of the thighs, in many cases, should be done over a series of procedures. Because there is a larger area to cover, the risks of complications increase. Hips, outer thighs and buttocks are usually done at the same time. Anterior thighs and inner thighs should be done at a separate time.

What areas of the face and body are treatable with liposuction?

Liposuction works best for areas of the face and body with stubborn fat deposits resistant to overall weight loss, such as the infamous "love handles." The thighs, abdomen, buttocks, flanks, hips, upper arms, chin, jowels, and neck generally respond well. Men and women may also choose liposuction to reduce breast size (Gynocomastia), a procedure that results in less scarring than other types of plastic surgery. Liposuction can be performed consecutively on many different sites; in fact, many patients choose to have several body parts treated during the same day.
