You need to clairify your question. The transmission stays in high gear, or are you saying the locking torque converter stays locked up?
I have a 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT and the shift pattern is: 1 3 5 2 4 R
It can come with either a Getrag manual 5 speed, or an automatic 4 speed with overdrive
Best top speed for a stock V-6 Fiero: 135 mph Worst: 115 mph Both Fieros were '85 GT's, the latter with an automatic transmission.
Fiero does not use a speedo cable There is an electronic sensor mounted on top of the transmission that both the engine computer and the speedo in the dash read to get the speed.

On the firewall, directly behind the driver. There are two there. One of them is for the fuel pump.
Do you have the single speed fan or two speed? Are you measuring the engine compartment blower as well? Mine read 4.5 amps
call the person you got the car from they ripped you off. fiero's were only made from 1984-1988 so if you have a 1994 someone took you for a rideAnswerand there isn't a speed cable. its electronic. there is a speed sencer that goes to the tranny that a wire hooks too. not that hard to replace.
4 speed manual Muncie Performance Transmission. The other 84's used the 4spd performance and 4 speed Economy trans. Made in Muncie Indiana.
The adjustments are pretty obvious on the the top of the transmission under the air intake and exhaust plumbing.
This is controlled by the computer. You can set the throttle opening to prevent wedging and sticking but this should not change the idle speed.
