It means that for some reason ram-air is not being allowed into the pitot tube, or the static air system has become clogged in some other way. Most commonly this is caused by forgetting to remove the pitot cover, failing to turn on the pitot heater when necessary, or by a bird or bug strike on the pitot tube. If it can be visually verified that the pitot cover has been removed, the pilot should engage the pitot heat. If there is a backup gauge serviced by a separate system, then that should be used.
