The earth has plates and when the earth shirfts its plates it open a trench canyon like structure. sorry if my grammer is not perfect.

An oceanic trench forms when a denser plate is subducted into the Earth at a convergent plate margin. Because the denser plate (always oceanic crust) is being bent and pulled down into the mantle, a trench forms at this subduction zone.

Which landform is likely to form where two oceanic plates push together?

A deep ocean trench is likely to form where two oceanic plates push together in a convergent boundary. This is because one of the plates subducts beneath the other, creating a deep trench.

How deep is the kermadec trench?

The Kermadec Trench is an oceanic trench that has a depth of 32,963 feet. This trench region is located between the North Island of New Zealand and an island called Tonga.

What marks the site where old oceanic lithosphere begins its descent into a subduction zone?

The site where old oceanic lithosphere begins its descent into a subduction zone is marked by a deep oceanic trench. Trenches are long, narrow depressions in the ocean floor that form where two tectonic plates converge and one is forced beneath the other. This process is associated with intense seismic activity and volcanic arcs.

What is form when oceanic crust is pushed under continental crust?

When oceanic crust is pushed under continental crust in a subduction zone, a deep trench is formed at the boundary between the two plates. The oceanic crust then descends into the mantle, creating a convergent plate boundary. This process can lead to the formation of volcanic arcs on the overriding continental plate.

Convergent boundaries can be divided into 3 categories what are these categories and what geological feature are created by each?

The categories are a continental and a continental plate colliding, continental and oceanic plates colliding, and oceanic and oceanic plates colliding. The two continental plates form mountains. The continental and oceanic plated colliding cause subduction zones and volcanoes. Oceanic and oceanic plates colliding form a trench.
