Chimps are studied because they are believed to be very similar to what our joint human-chimp ancestor probably looked like. Frans de Waal mentions in his book Bonobo: The Forgotten Ape(1997) that the ancestor may have looked similar to the bonobo, a close chimp cousin with a lighter frame and a more docile temperament. This is because their proportions are very similar to those of Australopithecus (a.k.a. Lucy), a more recent human ancestor who went extinct around 2 million years ago. Lucy had an arm-leg ratio of 12% and 28%. Bonobos have a ratio of 16% and 24% (p. 25). It is important to mention that bonobos split from chimps and not the other way around. If our ancestor had the proportions of a bonobo, it's possible that chimps developed their heavier frames due to the roughness of their early environment.
They didn't. But we share a common ancestor. The line of development branched, and one line produced gorillas and another produced humans.
by playing with other apes. and sticking there ya know in the other apes ya know
yes
Ape-like ancestors.
If we're evolving and evolved from monkeys or apes then why is there still monkeys and apes. We did not evolve from apes or monkeys. We branched off a common line. Humans did not evolve from apes. Humans and apes had a common ancestor . Apes evolved in one direction and we evolved in another. We probably looked a lot alike at first.
No! It has been a theory but they did not. Although I am a Christian.
Cats did not evolve from sabertoothed tigers. Rather, sabertoothed cats evolved from other cats. Modern apes evolved from miocene apes, which were somewhat similar. Miocene apes evolved from some lemur-like primate, or perhaps something like a lorise. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loris
evolution - apes continued to evolve as well. We came from all mamals, reptiles etc... each species continued to evolve into its own lines. All dogs came from the selective breeding from wolves, and wolves continue to exist.
2.4million yrs ago
The answer you are looking for is "Theist Evolution."
i am a Muslim and i believe that Hazrat Adam was the first human to step on earth and he was not an ape.
I think scientists and God are right. Maybe God made apes and make them evolve to be human
if you mean walking, it was first discovered by apes. it is when they discovered how to walk that they started to evolve into humans today.
Humans did not evolve from chimpanzees or any of the other great apes that live today.
