My guess is that the questioner is at school.

It really is an open question.

Obviously arithmetic, English and basic science is vital to all, but always remember that what you think you will never use once you've left school, can crop up unexpectedly in all sorts of ways in your future as householder, hobbyist, traveller, and so - not to mention anything specific needed for work.

Even in your home and social life, some of that knowledge can come bouncing back when you read a novel by a foreign author, see particular events on TV news, listen to the weather forecast, take up a particular hobby or sport, and so on.

Really, even if you don't take adult-education courses, you are learning and applying that learning all your life.
