People thought and felt very much as they do now. An arrangement like the Shakespeares', where the breadwinner was away from home most of the time, was more common. People were more inured to death, particularly the death of children. People took it for granted that the government could go around trying to force people to be of a particular religion. And of course the technologies were different, especially in the realm of communication. If you were not communicating with someone face-to-face, you had to write to them, and your letter might take a while. It was important to know how to write if you were going to write letters. But many things were the same. The rich were much richer than anyone else. Governments cared little about most of the people in the country. If you wanted to live, you pretty much had to work for it. Some people were depressed, some stupid, some active, some kind, some noble, some funny. A modern person would adapt quite quickly, I think, to life back then.
William Shakespeare was born during the English Renaissance, and as such was a Man of the Renaissance. Now does this make him a Renaissance Man like Leonardo de Venici? No since he was not involved in many different sciences or new thought processes. Master Shakespeare did in fact create some of the words we use today, like Baggage and Luggage. So in that he was a "new thinker"
A variety of Shakespearian words are still used today but many of the words were made up by William and many may be rather familiar.
There wasn't one when Shakespeare was alive. There have been several since David Garrick built one in 1769, including the Royal Shakespeare Theatre which is there today.
In Shakespeare's day it cost one penny to stand in the yard, three pence to sit in the gallery. Today it could cost up to $100.00 for orchestra seats on Broadway.
hmm...i think that'll be an opinion question. if it is homework help then just put what you think of it by common sense. (i would say horrified since there is just TV and no one gets off their butts, and watch plays ☺)
A patron was someone who financially supported an artisan, similar to a sponsorship today.
