Well the connection between atoms and elements is they are a compound... Usually compounds have quite different properties (e.g. colour, texture, taste, smell and density) from the elements whose atoms they contain... For example: the compound of water is a liquid at room temperature. Water contains atoms of the elements hydrogen and oxygen, which exist in air as colourless glass - quite different to water...

Is carbon a molecule or a atom?

Carbon is an element. Elements are atoms at its simplest. A molecule is a collection of atoms connected by an electric charge.

If Atoms of the same element are identical then why is it that diamond and graphite both made of carbon atoms are so different?

It has to do with how the atoms are connected. A full explanation of the details would be quite long, but basically the atoms in diamond are connected strongly in three dimensions but the atoms in graphite are connected strongly in only two dimensions.

What is the meaning of the element and compound?

An element is a substance that consists of atoms that are all of the same type, meaning that they all have the same number of protons in their nuclei. A compound is a substance consisting of molecules, each consisting of the same atoms connected in the same way.

What is the number of atoms in an element?

The number of atoms in an element depends on WHAT element AND how much of that element.

What is wrong with the statement ''the atoms of element X are isoelectronic with the atoms of element Y?

Correct: ''the atoms of the element X are isoelectronic with the ions of the element Y".

How many atoms are in the element copper and in the element carbon and in the element aluminum and how many atoms are in baking soda and how many atoms are in a sugar cube?

There are no "atoms in an element," but rather atoms OF an element. If you are trying to find the number of atoms in a sample of a pure element you divide its weight by its molar mass and then multiply by 6.022 x 10^23 to get the answer in atoms. The answer options are 2,3, or 4.

What is the substance made up of atoms?

The atoms of an element are all identical.
