The phrase "case study" refers to an experimental design (used to examine whether or not the intervention/procedures are in fact responsible for change), while "naturalistic observation" refers to a method and environment for data collection. A primer on experimental design and methods of data collection is beyond the scope of this forum, but some highlights which may be of help appear below.
In a case study the researcher implements the procedure (ie. the "protocol", "treatment") but does not subsequently withdraw or otherwise manipulate the procedure in order to investigate the effects thereof (such as in the example of an experiment using a reversal design).
Naturalistic observation is a method of data collection which may be used as part of a case study. Rather than examaning the effects of a procedure under strictly controlled conditions (such as in a lab environment) the researcher observes events as they occur in the natural environment.

Observational studies involve observing and documenting behavior in natural settings. Surveys involve collecting data through questionnaires or interviews to measure attitudes, opinions, or behaviors. Experimental research involves manipulating variables to determine their effect on behavior. Case studies involve in-depth examination of a single individual or group to gain insights into behavior and psychological processes.

Psychological studies can use various methods, including experiments, surveys, observational studies, case studies, and interviews. Each method has its strengths and limitations, and researchers choose the most appropriate method based on their research question and goals. Experimental studies involve manipulating variables to observe their effects, while surveys gather data through questionnaires or interviews. Observational studies involve observing and recording behaviors in natural settings, case studies focus on in-depth analysis of individuals or small groups, and interviews involve direct interaction with participants to gather information.
Clinical Case Studies was created in 2002.

Case studies are educational and informative. Many intellectuals read case studies to get insight about studies conducted around the world.
There are many different places where one can find project management case studies. Some websites that provide this information include Project Management Institute, Marketing Profs and Amazon.
