There are two principles that come into play when using chopsticks, both follow Newton's third law of motion "To every action there is an opposite and equal reaction". When the chopsticks pick up a portion of food i.e meat, the chop sticks are forced against the meat to be able to pick it up. At the same time the meat is forced against the chop sticks with the same amount of pressure. Chop sticks are also used to do work. When the chop sticks are raised upwards towards the mouth work is being done, though the amount of work is negligible.
