How are crystals formed?

"Crystallization" begins with the process of nucleation. During nucleation, a solution's solute molecules begin to bond together with one another. Though these bonds are usually disrupted by the solution itself, a critical size is sometimes reached in which enough molecules have bonded together to resist the solution's tendency to break them apart. At this point, the bonded molecules attract other solute molecules and a crystal is formed.
