How are digital cameras and scanners being used in some medical office?

Digital cameras can be used for medical purposes in many different ways to in a GP surgery to in a hospital. The main way in which they are used is for taking photos of any patients injuries or marks that are causing them extreme uncomfort. They Can also be used as an x ray type thing to see what is going on inside the patients body and diagnose anything that is wrong with them
The only one thing that I can wonder is to take pictures of the patients with a disease, which could be useful to follow the evolution of such disease, in order to document patient's recovery throughout the treatment.
