Stem cells are capable of self-renewal and assymetrical division to give rise to progenitor cells. Progenitor cells are cells that can further differentiate into other cells though it has lost the stem cell's ability to self-renew. When a stem cell divides, the same stem cell and a progenitor cell is produced. The production of the same stem cell is evidence of self-renewal and the production of a cell different from the parent cell is evidence of assymetrical division (regular mitosis gives rise to two identical daughter cells).

Stem cells are specialized type of cells that can be harvested from human bone marrow, umbilical cord, blood and adipose tissues. Stem cells have the ability for self-renewal that's why; it's used to treat fatal diseases that are thought to be malignant.

Sperm cells simply refers to a male reproductive cells that consist of 23 chromosomes. These sperm cells originate from testicles where they are developed and it can only be harvested through the process of ejaculation.

A stem cell has no genetic DNA, so that when it gets inserted next to other cells, the stem cells copy the DNA of their neighbors. There is currently research going on to see if stem cells can be a possible cure for diseases such as cancer because of their unique capabilities.

Stem cells have the word stem before the word cells. Somatic cells have the word somatic before the word cells. :)

How do stem cells differentiate from other cells?

Stem cells are different from other cells in the body in several notable ways. They can divide and renew themselves many times, whereas other cells are more limited in their divisions. And when those stem cells divide, the new cells can become specialized if necessary. Stem cells have no assigned function in the body, but through the process of specialization, they can take on roles in any of the body's tissues. These type of cells can be derived from human embryos or from certain spots in the adult human body.

How are stem cells and cancer cells different?

it is just different

Why can stem cells be used to make other cells but blood cells cant?

That is what makes stem cells different from ordinary cells. Stem cells aren't specialized for a single purpose but can change into many different types of cells. Blood cells are already changed and are nullipotent (meaning it can't change into a different cell). Once a cell has become a specialized (like blood cells) it can't change. Also stem cells have the ability to divide indefinitely, whereas the nullipotent cells can't.

How are adult body cells different from embryonic stem cells?

adult body cells have a function where as embryonic stem cells have no set function as of that stage. now there are some adult stem cells and those have little to no difference than embryonic stem cells

Skin stem cells can only produce other skin cells. What does this indicate about skin stem cells?

they are unipotent

How many different types of tissue stem cells are there?

There are three different types of tissue stem cells in the body. They include the tissue stem cells also known as adult stem cells, embryonic stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells.

Cells that can become any other cell type?

stem cells

What are some different cells?

A cell is a single living unit that works together with other cells to be a living being. Humans have skin cells, liver cells, brain cells, etc. Plants would have stem and leaf cells. Fetuses have a lot of stem cells.

What and where are stem Cells?

Stem cells are of different types and perform different functions e.g. stem cells present in bone marrow form new blood cells bu mitosis . In lower animals e.. Planaria stem cells present in body help in regeneration , such cell are called Neoblasrs and they are undifferentiated cells .

How many different types of stems are there?

Three main classification and five different types.three classification areTotipotent: it has the potential to become all other types of cells in the body. A fertilized egg is totipotent.Multipotent: a small number of stem cells can produce only certain types of cells.Pluripotent: stem cells that produce any type of cell in the body except those needed to develop a fetus.and five different types are:early embryonic stem cellsblastocyst embryonic stem cellsfetal stem cellsumbilical cord stem cellsadult stem cells

What organs do stem cells provide for?

Because stem cells are the undifferentiated cells, they are able to grow into many different kinds of organs.

Where are the stem cells that replace old blood cells located in?

Stem cells are located in the bone marrow sometimes in different places.
