In geology, a valley is a depression with predominant extent in one direction. A very deep river valley may be called a canyon or gorge. The terms U-shaped and V-shaped are descriptive terms of geography to characterize the form of valleys. Most valleys belong to one of these two main types or a mixture of them, at least with respect of the cross section of the slopes or hillsides. a v shaped valley is where the valleys faces form in the shape of a letter v. this is ofen caused by a river flowing through the middle and causing erosion.
1. A fast-running river scours out a deep channel (instead of making a wide shallow flood)
2. Soon the side walls of the channel start to crumble down.
3. As the soil and rocks avalanche down into the river, the river valley takes on its V shape.
4. This soil is eventually washed away by the water.
River valley with a V-shaped cross-section. Such valleys are usually found near the source of a river, where the steeper gradient means that there is a great deal of corrasion along the stream bed, and erosion cuts downwards more than it does sideways. However, a V-shaped valley may also be formed in the lower course of a river when its powers of downward erosion become renewed by a fall in sea level, a rise in land level, or the capture of another river.
V-Shaped Valleys are formed by rivers. The image on the right is a River valley with a V-shaped cross-section. Valleys are usually found near the source of a river, where the steeper gradient means that there is a great deal of corrosion (grinding away by rock particles) along the stream bed, and erosion cuts downwards more than it does sideways. However, a V-shaped valley may also be formed in the lower course of a river. V shaped valleys are formed by erosion, pushing two land masses towards each other. It typically takes millions of years to form a v shaped valley.
when rocks, sand, etc, are driven down a cliff by weathering or some other kind of nature thing, it creates kind of a "V"-shape material
V-shaped valleys are formed by rivers.
Erosion
V-shaped mountain valleys are formed by the effects of running water. U-shaped mountain valleys are formed by the grinding action of moving glaciers.
A narrow valley is a V-shaped valley, or river valley. A narrow valley has steep sloped sides that look like the letter V. They are formed by a strong stream.
A stream shaped valley is usually 'V' shaped. A glacier formed valley is usually 'U' shaped.
The shape of a valley carved by a glacier is U shaped. A valley carved by a river is V shaped.
v shaped valleys is one of them
A V-shaped valley has been formed by a river. A U-shaped valley has been formed by a glacier.
In cross-section: A 'U' shaped valley is formed from glacial erosion. A 'V' shaped valley is formed by river erosion.
A V-shaped valley eroded by a river is called a canyon.
V-shaped mountain valleys are formed by the effects of running water. U-shaped mountain valleys are formed by the grinding action of moving glaciers.
A 'V' shaped valley has been formed by a stream or river. A 'U' shaped valley has been formed by the action of a glacier. Therefore, should a glacier form in the mountains, the ice, pushed downhill by the weight of fresh snow constantly being added high above, will gouge out the 'V' shaped river valley and form the 'U' shaped glacial valley.
You can transform a v-shaped valley into a u-shaped valley by a glacier.
You can transform a v-shaped valley into a u-shaped valley by a glacier.
soft bedrock and a wet climate.
V-shaped Valley
yes
A v-shaped valley eroded by a river is called a river valley. This type of valley is characterized by steep sides and a narrow bottom, formed by the erosive action of the river over time.
