Momentum is always conserved. But if you want to verify, calculate the vector sum p = mv of both objects before the collision, and then calculate the vector sum p = mv of both objects after the collision. Your two vectors should be exactly equal.

Momentum is defined as the product of mass and velocity. Momentum is never created or destroyed. It transfers from one body to other. When a collision occurs , the momentum of first body is transmitted to the second body. The momentum of first body lost in the collision is gained by the other body and it is equal to the lost momentum of the first body. The total momentum remains the same.
