Well that depends on what you mean, if you are talking about shapes of bone, then there are five: -long bones, these are bones which are longer than they are wide, so bones like your femur, and, even though they are small, the phalanges - short bones, these are bones which are shorter than they are wide, so they end up kind of cuboidy shaped, like the carpal bones. - flat bones, these are bones, which are usually kind of flat, and are formed in a different way to other bones (interosseous ossification) this means they have more spongy (cancellous) bone than other bones. - irregular bones, these are bones which don't really fit into any of the other categories, like the vertebrae, and some of the facial bones. - sesamoid bones, these are bones which form in other tissues, like the patella (kneecap) If you are talking about types of bone, then there are two; spongy (cancellous) and compact (cortical) bone. Spongy bone usually makes up most of the inside of bone (especially in young children) and contains red marrow, which is where blood cells are made.
