Something like a tree is a perfect example of this. Many organizations will allow you to plant a tree, for a donation. This is considered a gift of nature, and is also a natural resource.

A gift of nature could be "life" itself.

Nature (trees, plants, animals, microscopic plankton) changes the carbon dioxide into breathable air, etc. It does this through different but natural recycling processes like the carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, and hydrology cycle where harmful gases are transformed over time through nature's organisms to be reused again and again.

A gift of nature becomes a resource when its value or importance is discovered. The value of such a thing must have been there all along but it only appeals to man as a resource when he can use it to meet a need.
