What does the Family Name Tumelty mean?

Tumelty means mound people it refers to Tumults, Burial mounds, the name derived from the tribe in Europe originally when the culture was to pilestones upon the fallen as theylay on the battlefield alongside their weapon this is why some meanings can be to honour ancestors or to honour god. The culture the name stems from is the Tumuli culture the Hebrew name Timothy stems from these same people. The most likely reaon the Tumuli culture developed was the fact that they were a warring nomadic tribe and it was common for crows to follow the path of tribes such as these to feed on the carcasses of those who had diee in battle. The vision of crows in the distantsky from unsuspecting villages would then raise alarm and give early warning to those who would be raided. The Tumuli hence began burying the dead under mounds of stones to prevent the monterage of crows trailing them to once again be able to raid without warning this would later become known as having some kind of respect for the dead as they would even bury their enemies thoughsome would argue it was nothing more than a battle strtegy. The Tumuli went on to fight for Egypt as mercenaries and some of their decendants landed in Ireland after the Danish invasions.
