By damaging or destroying industrial production, power supplies, transportation systems, educational institutions, and the loss of people that work in those industries. Industrial production will be directed towards production of items needed for war, to the neglect of other items. Example- during WW2, it was difficult to buy a typewriter in the US, since one of the major makers of typewriters (Remington Rand) was making guns instead of typewriters.

without wars we wouldn't be free. take the revolutionary war for an example. without it we would still live in England and be controlled over. :))))
