How can you add a URL to an answer?

A strictly relevant external link that addresses and answers what the questioner actually asked, may be added under the Sources and Related Links section. You can do this by clicking on 'Add Related Links,' which is listed in the blue panel to the left of your screen. When you have added the link, it will then appear further down the answer page under Sources and Related Links.

Adding a URL to an AnswerPlease note that this tool requires contributors to sign in.

To add a URL to an answer on WikiAnswers:

1. On the left-side blue bar, under "Question tools," click on "Add related links."
2. On the "URL" line, paste in the entire address for the link.
3. On the "Title" line, put in a description (the name of the website, plus a brief description of what the link is about); this is what will appear at the bottom of the answer.
4. Save.

NOTE

Hyperlinks are not allowed in answers; they can, however, be added in the Forums and on the message boards.

You are not allowed to add hyperlinks directly into answers.

This is because links need to be moderated by Supervisors before they are approved to be shown on the question. So, links in the answer body are flagged by our bots, which patrol the website. Which means a Supervisor has to edit your answers and possibly place a warning against your account.

Related Links

You can add links using the Related Links feature, which is found on the blue toolbar on the left when viewing a question.

Related links will appear underneath the answer you give.

Logs

When you add a link, it gets added to a log which only Supervisors can access. Your link will show on the answer once it has been checked and approved by a Supervisor.

Advertising

Your links must not advertise another website, product, service or business, either your own or another persons. The only place you can mention these is on your personal profile. Anywhere else is a violation of the Terms Of Use (which you accepted upon registration).

Your links can only act as a further information source relevant to the answer you gave.
