The simplest and cheapest way would be to use a casette player with headphone out or line out, a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable and your PC. I'd recommend a gold plated jack cable.

You could then plug one end into the casette player and the other into the Line In or Microphone In on your computer, and use a free program like Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) to record it. You can then save it in various formats, and burn it to CD if you desire.

Be aware that the volume you use is very important. If you're not careful you could get "clipping". In most recording programs (including Audacity), you will notice two bars showing the volume level. You want to ensure the sounds from the player do not go into the red at their loudest point.

Remember that the quality recording you get will only be as good as the casette itself.

I hope this helps .

there are actually many, many ways. the safest way requires a microphone and what you are playing from (in this case it is the cassette player.) first, you download a program called Audacity. this program can be obtained by just typing it in on Google. then, you will find several download sites. download it, and just play the music from the cassette player and record it back onto your computer by using the special software! however, to export the whole song or file as an Mp3 file, you need an extension called Lame.exe. just find that on google as well, and put it in the same folder as the application. then, whenever you want to save it as an MP3 file, just locate Lame.exe and you will be able to do so.

You can - but you need a couple things for your computer first. The audio recording on a cassette is in called an analog recording. Without going into serious detail here, "Analog" covers recording media like magnetic tape (like your cassettes and 8 track) and records (like a 45).

Computer's, CDs, and MP3 players play audio recordings that are digital. In short, the sounds you hear are actually made up of thousands of 1s and 0s like all other things on a computer.

To record your cassettes into a computer, you need an Analog to Digital converter, or A/D pronounced "A" 2" "D" converter. This comes with many computers already - it can be on the back labeled "Audio" or simply "IN" next to the place you plug in your speakers.

The next thing you need is audio recording software. In many cases, this is included as well. There are so many different home versions of software now Windows, I couldn't even begin to make suggestions. Look through your "Accessories" section in your programs menu. If you use Apple - you can use Garage Band.

Finally, you need the cable. The easiest way to get the right cable is to take your cassette player with you (or write down the model if it is too big to carry) and go to Radio Shack or Best Buy for the cable. Ask someone in that department, but it should be one of these:

Stereo RCA to Stereo 8th Inch

Stereo RCA to Stereo RCA

Stereo 8th Inch to Stereo 8th Inch

These are very common and can be found at any electronics or music store: The cables should not cost you much more than $5 to $10 dollars.

if you want to spend some money for some better quality, they do offer some combination packs online and in music stores that includes everything you need (minus the cassette player). They will have an A/D converter (connects to your usb port), the recording software, and they can even include the cables to connect your cassette player. Be prepared, though . . . some of these can start at $49 and skyrocket to $300 plus quickly. Even if you are a complete audiophile, the $49 packages can offer great quality, and more than enough to get a nice recording from your tape to your computer.

How would someone copy a cassette to a CD?

To copy a cassette to a CD requires either an audio recorder or computer with an audio input and CD burner. To use an audio recorder, connect your source cassette player to the device and place a blank writeable CD into the device. To use a computer, connect your source cassette player to the line in jack on the audio card and run audio recording software while the cassette is playing. Burn the audio files using the CD writer.

How can I copy cassette music to blank cassette?

You will need two cassette players, an audio cable, and some time. Put the cassette you want to copy in a player (now on referred to as the first player), and plug in an audio cable to the headphone jack. Connect this cable to the microphone jack of the other player; insert the blank cassette in this player. Make sure the tapes don't need to be rewound. On the player with the blank cassette, press record. On the first player (with the material you want to copy), press play. Give the first player enough time to finish playing, and your tape will be transferred! Press stop on the other cassette player.

I bought two full cds from itunes but i cant get them onto my creative zen the songs are locked i can copy onto a disc but still they wont copy onto creative zen how do i unlock the songs?

The fastest and easiest thing to do would be to get an audio recording program for your computer and a small section of audio cable to feed back the output audio into your microphone input while recording and then just encode the new audio file as an MP3. The cable is only really needed if your computer's sound card is of good quality. My laptop's sound card automatically feeds back into itself, even after I disconnected its internal microphone.
