Many individuals today have work schedules or a variety of responsibilities that prevent them from attending on campus courses. However, many colleges and universities offer online courses and degrees that you can work on from home. You can research these institutions by going to www.collegeboard.com/splash/ and using the sites College MatchMaker search engine. The site - based of your request - will give you a list of schools, the schools background, accreditation, programs of study, tuition and fees, etc. Once you get the hang of using this search engine it will be a valuable tool for you.

You can get College Life Experience credits, but whether or not your college accepts them is the real issue. Your first step is to visit or call the Admissions Office and ask them if they accept life experience credits. In addition, take a look at the college's catalogue, specifically the course descriptions, because you are going to have to make the case that you have already mastered the material described in particular courses through work experience. You will have to verify this through a resume or references.

It depends on the specific college credits and the field you are considering. Some credits, such as general education courses, may be more easily transferable to other fields. However, credits specific to criminal investigation may have limited applicability outside of law enforcement or related fields. It is best to consult with academic advisors or professionals in the field you are interested in to determine if your credits will be applicable.
