Birds like dog food so you would need to move the dog food to a location where the birds can't get to it. But why would you care if they ate the dog's food. We actually have a pet starling (they talk and imitate incredibly!) and we feed him dog food as recommended by other starling owners and vets, since the dog food is so well balanced in nutrients.
I assume that you are leaving the bowl outside :). Might I suggest a visual scare device, such as a TerrorEyes balloon (http://www.bird-x.com/products/terror.html). The added bonus will be that pesky birds like pigeons and starlings will not only stay out of your dogs bowl, but out of your yard entirely. If that's not gonna work for you, go to http://www.bird-x.com for other ideas, or call one of our experts at (800)860-0473. Also, if you're just trying to keep them out of the water dish, try putting a little Grape Juice in there. It won't hurt your dog, but the birds might dislike the taste enough to keep them out.
You cannot stop a cat hunting and eating animals - after all, all cats are meat eaters and actively hunt for their food. Many domestic cats with access to the outdoors will hunt and eat the animals they catch. It is a cat's nature, therefore cannot be trained out of this behaviour.
If you wish your cat to stop eating wild birds, the most effective method is to keep the cat indoors during daylight hours - particularly at dawn and dusk which is when cats are at their most active.
There are also some solutions to cats hunting of birds that are available: cat bibs, birdsbesafe-cat-collars. Use your own judgment about these innovations after you do some research about them. Best is to keep cats indoors, but outdoor cats can also be kept in outdoor enclosures, walked with a harness, or can use bird-protecting devices.
Usually to prevent animals, dogs and cats alike, you attache a small bell to their collar so that the birds are forewarned before the animal can sneak up on them.
If your dog dish is outside, I would recommend you put it inside. If it has to be outside you should keep it in a covered area.
make it go somewhere alse
or...dont let it eat them :) they need to learn not to :)
dont give the dog cat food. simple
Yes if its wet cat food, dog should only eat dog food.
I am looking for the aisle where the dog food is located. The dog is eating the cat's food.
no. the only main difference between cat and dog food is that a dog food can contains preferably more meat than a cat food can. basically, if a dog eats cat food, there should be absoloutely no problem.
you can take the food away from them and let them eat kitty food.
No, nor does eating dog biscuits whiten your teeth.
well my dog and cat get a long well but a mouse is not possible in less the dog is in the middle of course
Because it's in the chain of the cat eating the bird and then dog eating the cat.
For example Romanians consider eating of dog or cat meat as an horror.
Cat food is much higher in fat than dog food. Most dogs prefer it for this reason, and, given the chance, are more likely to eat it. It's generally not a good idea for a dog to eat cat food, but it won't necessarily "harm" them.
unless a dog or cat is raised up on human food, eating human food upsets it's digestive tract, some flatualte, some regurgitate. If the cat is more used to cat food, it should remain on cat food.
Yes they do! They have been seen eating the food I put out for my cats.
It is not ideal to feed cat food to a dog, nor dog food to a cat. Cats are obligate carnivores; dogs are opportunistic carnivores and thus have different dietary requirements. Cat food is higher in protein and fat than dog food, which can cause the dog to gain weight if fed cat food.
