The only way to really be sure that your rabbit is female is by examining the genitalia, which means turning the rabbit upside down. Always be very careful when examining rabbits: a struggling rabbit can easily injure itself or you. Have someone else hold the rabbit, while you examine the genitalia. Don't attempt to turn your rabbit upside down unless you know how to do it safely. If you aren't sure, bring your rabbit to the vet for sexing.

When you turn the rabbit upside down, if you see testicles, you're looking at a male rabbit.

If you don't see testicles, the rabbit could still be male (he could be neutered, or a juvenile, or he could have pulled his testicles into his abdomen as a response to stress or danger). The only way to really tell if a rabbit is male or female is to examine the genital opening. Press gently and the genital organ (the penis or vulva) will pop out. If the hole at the end of the organ is a slit, line, or slash, the rabbit is female. (If the hole is more of a small round dot, the rabbit is male.)
