If you are not keeping it in accordance with the basic rules of sucessfull fishkeeping I can guarantee that it is stressed. The basic rules are. :- 1 inch of fish must have at least 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank must have a permanently running 'cycled' filter. :- Every tank must have at least 50% of its water replaced every week.. If you follow those basics and keep the fish at the correct temperature, water pH and GH, for its species your fish should be OK. If you miss out on any of the above, your fish will be constantly getting sick and will live a shorter life than they should.

they can also start going bald in places and you may start to see them less hammys will often also loos a lot of weight
