Young guineas tend to be stream line, fast and good smooth coat and have very short sharp claws.older guineas are slower with a bell bottom shape, the coat may feel coarse and molt more the claws are the best give away they may be growing outwards away from the foot they maybe twisted and soft or long in this case they must be cut but will not grow straight again.they may loss weight or have milky eyes when very old and be real easy to pick up

Thats a grate question! Actually, it is vary hard to tell the age of a guinea pig at a pet store, if you don't have the right trick... It's simple... Just weigh them. The pet store should have a kitchen scale. Ask a staff member to let you use the scale. If the guinea pig is about 12 oz. it is a baby. If the guinea pig is about 1 lb. it is an adult. Keep that in mind, ok.
