You can check a single fuel injector on a 300zx by using a multi-meter, which you can purchase at any local electronics shop, auto parts store, etc. Make sure the ignition is completely off, and locate the injector you want to test. This is all made easier by removing the engine cover, 4 hex screws secure the cover. From this point we have two different paths, 1. deals with the old style injectors, and 2. with the new style, please read on. 1.Now that you can see a little better, try to find the metal retaing clip around the plug on your injector. These are a pain to remove, and easy to lose, I set a small magnet near the injector so it could catch the clip once I pried it off. The easiest way I found to remove the clip was to take a small flat head screwdriver, and push the clip back in the groove from the opposite side of the motor that I was working. After making enough room to slide another screw driver into the back of the clip, pry the clip loose, and you're ready to pull the plug on the injector. After many years the plugs can get stuck on so it may take a little force to get it to come loose, just be careful not to damage the wires or plastic. 2. The newer style injectors come with a built in plastic clip that makes it much easier to remove, just depress the plastic tab, and pull, just be careful as these tabs have a tendency to break after they've been weathered for 5+ years. Now on to the testing. 3.MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT START THE CAR WHILE AN INJECTOR IS UNPLUGGED, DO NOT UNPLUG AN INJECTOR WITH THE CAR RUNNING THIS HAS BEEN KNOWN TO FRY ECU'S With the plug removed you should see two small metal points in the top of the injector, these are what we're going to be testing. Pull out your multi-meter, turn it to the setting for OHMS, resistance, or if you are totally electronically illeterate, the horeshoe looking symbol. Make sure that your two test leads, typically one red and one black are touching the metal points on the injector, if need be, clean out the area around the metal points with some canned air or a compressor as corrosion often occurs here, and look at your test meter. If it shows 13, your're perfect, the injector is still sitting at the baseline for a new injector, there is a range of resistance that will work for your injector, I believe it's 6.0ohms to 13.0ohms, but don't quote me on that one. Try searching for the resistance, I haven't been able to find it, but it's buried somewhere. Anyways, I hope I helped, make sure to reassemble everything properly, and Good luck Racerx300zx
