They'll be for iPad, rather than iPod/phone. Also, check you haven't run out of memory space!
some apps wont go on ipod touch because there either not meant for them or you need to pay for them and ur money is gone
I know I have got the same problem. I go to my update app pg and I click on the update button and then it comes up with the button install and I click on it. But then it goes right back to the update button. So I can't update ANY of my apps. PLEASE HELP
Your ipod touch wont let you buy apps because your credit card is not valid anymore you do have to fix that or you have to many apps that your gb is gone if that doesn't help i'd contact apple
Do you have the limit of pages? Delete one app, Visit: jailbreakme.com or jailbreakme.com/star and install Cydia and Jailbreak. Delete another app and open Cydia, Install SummerBoard and that will extend your pages.
To download Apps off the App Store you need to have a Apple ID and a Credit card.
You must be at least 13 to download apps.
You must have a working credit card.

that's whats happening to mine as well but try deleting the app store and go on the search bar and search for it and also sign out your account and long back in and the last thing, switch of your iPod and switch back in !!.

There could be many reasons. The memory could be full on your iDevice or you may not have an Internet connection.
It could either because you are using a different Apple ID then the one that was used to download them or there is not enough space to hold the newest updates.
