Mercury is very rare with only 0.08 parts per million in the earth's crust. But due to it's inability to combine with other elements. It is usually found in larger deposits. .1% to 2.5% mercury mass. Even at .1%, that is 12,000 times greater than its average abundance in the earth's crust.
