How competitive is cardiology?

Getting into a cardiology fellowship following a residency in

internal medicine in the United States ranks among the most

competitive of the internal medicine subspecialties. Equally

competitive is oncology and gasterenterology. Looking at the match

statistics on the NRMP website for 2010: of 729 positions in the

US, 59% of US graduate applicants matched, 9% of US foreign grads

matched, 4% of osteopathic graduates matched while 28% of foreign

graduates matched.
