They need to be treated with respect. I live in an area of Dunedin where there are established colonies of these Spiders. eg when I lift a rock there can be five or so under it. Both my husband and I have been bitten by them. The bite hurts like a wasp sting and I got ice onto it right away. I certainly knew i had been bitten the next day but there were no residual effects. My husband who is a bit allergic to bee stings had a worse reaction; lots of pain, redness, residual pain and numbness over the next few days. So treat them with respect!!
the banded tunnel web spider
spiders that make tunnel webs can they be found in UK, North Scotland in particular?
I think the answer to your query is a "funnel spider"............ but don't hold me to that........
Tarantulas are known for their intricate funnel-shaped webs, but there are species of spider such as the Wolf Spider who's web is funnel shaped as well. More than likely the spider is not dangerous, but it depends on the species of the spider you're dealing with. A common spider in the pacific northwest that create a funnel like web are the hobo spider. It can not kill you but their venom is rather potent. It can dissolve the skin surrounding the bite if the bite is not treated correctly. They are large, and the hobo is larger than the brown, and the hobo is also more dangerous. In addition to greater size, it has greater speed and the venom is more potent ------------------------- The spider he's talking about is the Sydney Funnel-Web which can kill a human within 40 minutes of the time of the bite. & The Hobo spider is not the spider that dissolves skin, the Brown Recluse is the one that dissolves skin.
i think the dangerous spider is the black widow. In a book i read it wrote that the black spider you can get really sick. There are many dangerous spiders. Do you want to know what is a dangerous spider or what is the most dangerous spider??A Black Widow is a dangerous spider so is a Red Back or a Funnel WebThe Brazilian wandering spider has a highly toxic venom along with the Australian funnel-web spiders, both these kinds are considered the most dangerous spiders in the world.
the banded tunnel web spider
The funnel web spider which is found in Australia is the most dangerous spider.
it can scratch its bumbs
When the spider is in its web it will be safe from predators except from spider eating wasps which can find the spiders in their webs. If the spider is out of its web it cant protect itself but only can run and try and get away.
No. The funnel web spider makes a web in a funnel shape (obviously), but the black widow hunts for its food. :)
It might be the spider I saw May 11,2010. It may be a wolf, widow,or tunnel web.

Lurvy tried to hit Zuckerman's spider, Charlotte, with a stick in "Charlotte's Web." He wanted to get rid of her thinking she was harmful or dangerous.

While both are very dangerous, wandering spiders are usually considered to be the most venomous in the world. id say the funnel web spider because i have heard people say it is the most deadly spider in the world
