The main character is Son Goku, whos name is based on Sun Woo Kong, a ape character from Chinese novel Jurney to the West...Also Goku can be transformed int the ape...Goku's human for is much based on famous martial artist Bruce Lee, which moves Toriyama perfered...Toriyama also noted that he love 1001 Dalmatian Disney carton, saying that drawing of that cartoon and animation style is great...So for record making any good manga or comic need time research, and reading books, manga's and watching movies...

Is Dragon Ball Z an invention? No. Toei Doga created it. there's a picture in the credits that says Toei animation with that drawing of a cat with a feather in its hat at the end of the show. They did the anime, but the story/manga was created and drawn by Akira Toriyama, who has also done Dr. Slump and I think Hunter x Hunter. Toei took the original illustrations from the manga and animated it. Akira Toryama is the father of the original though. So he gets pretty much all of the credit.

Dragonball Z is a finished series. They already made the very last episode. They did however make a new series titled "Dragonball GT" This is the story of Goku and pals 20 years after defeating Majin Buu.
