He discovered that a person could find peace of mind in almost any circumstances, and even a little happiness. He fathered a counseling school of thought that is widely used today, using what he discovered in the camps.

In the death camps, Elie Wiesel's faith was shattered as he struggled to reconcile the atrocities he witnessed with his belief in a just and compassionate God. He questioned how a benevolent deity could allow such suffering and evil to exist. This experience led him to grapple with issues of faith and ultimately caused him to lose his faith in God.
