In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets the Sorting Hat presents the sword to any worthy Gryffindor who has need of it.
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Harry Potter and Hermione Granger were setting up camp, Hermione revealed their location when she was looking in her bag. Inside was the portrait of old Hogwarts Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black. His other portrait told Severus Snape where Harry and Hermione were.
Snape placed the sword in the middle of a frozen pond. He then cast his patronus, a doe, towards it. Harry spotted the patronus and started to follow it and was lead to the sword. He dived in an retrieved it (although he had to be saved by Ron after the Horcrux attempted to kill him).
Well you might know that Snape was on our side all long
It turns out on Dumbledores orders he had to give the sword to Harry so he turned up where they were camping and hid it in the small frozen pool nearby there tent. So harry finds it and dives in and tries to get it but then Ron turns up and ends up getting it instead
I would tell you more but if you haven't watched or read it i don't want to wreck it for you.

He took it from him by force at Malfoy manor.
it was in the lake, harry found it and went in after it but he got choked by the horcrux but then Ron came back and rescued harry and the sword and horcrux then he destroyed the horcrux.
He became a burglar and stole it from his dark-wizard bunker.
It isn't known what happened to the sword after the final battle. Presumably, it was returned to the Headmasters office until the next worthy Gryffindor needed it.
Harry was led by Snape's Patronus towards a chilly lake and at the bottom there was Godric Gryffindor's sword. Since no one or nothing could help him get the sword , he stripped down and dove into the lake. The water was very cold and if that was not enough he realised too late that he wore the locket of Slytherin for too long ; he came to know this when it started to strangle him. Fortunately Ron saved him from the clutches of the Horcruxes and managed to retrieve the sword of Gryffindor. Afterwards they used the sword to destroy the Horcrux.
