Matthew records that after John's execution by Herod Jesus left to go to a desert place with His disciples.
13When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. Mark and Luke add the additional detail that the disciples had just returned from their 'preaching assignment' and do not mention that the going off to a place alone was a direct reaction to John's death. In fact the suggestion is that there was so much going on that the opportunity for a private 'debriefing' necessitated them getting away from the crowd and so not necessarily as a direct reaction to John's death. Matthew does not necessarily imply that the departure was a direct consequence of John's execution either or that Jesus was fleeing for His life in fear and trembling. There were a number of occasions when Jesus, due to the crowds that followed Him, sought for some 'peace and quiet' either for His own sake or for the disciples (that they could be taught in peace) or both.
29And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb. 30And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. 31And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. 9And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him. 10And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.
Jesus must have been sad at the news as they were first cousins, and John baptized Jesus as well.
There is a whole chapter about it. Jesus is great. Read the Bible. Read the word of The Bible. Jesus was greaf stricken. He was there to prepare the robe for Jesus.
I
Ok
No.
Isaiah and john the baptist told of the coming of Jesus.
John the Baptist announced that Jesus was the Christ (ie the "Messiah"[Hebrew] or "Christ" [Greek]), as also foretold in Old Testament prophecies.
Saint Andrew became a Christian and later converted to Catholicism after hearing the teachings of Jesus Christ. He was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and dedicated his life to spreading the message of Christianity, eventually becoming a Catholic saint.
Simon Peter followed Jesus because Jesus called him to be his disciple, and Peter was drawn to Jesus' teachings and presence. Peter recognized Jesus as the Messiah and experienced firsthand the power and love of Jesus in his life. He was also inspired to follow Jesus by witnessing the miracles and witnessing Jesus' compassion for others.
The Person who baptized Jesus was John the Baptist( Jesus' cousin) and when John baptized Jesus, God, His father came from heaven and told the people who Jesus was ans what he would do. God is the only real God who is Jesus' father and who is also Jesus Christ. its a bit confusing :) but Jesus Christ is the only true God and if you don't believe in him and ask him into your life then you may not live in eternity. (heaven)
John the Baptist was most compared to Elijah because both men of God pointed out and told people to repent of their sins because Jesus was coming soon.
Jesus was baptized by his cousin John the Baptist. you can find it in the Gospels (New Testament). John was Elizabeth's baby. Elizabeth and Mary were pregnant round the same time. Elizabeth was on Mary's side of the family. i think they are either sisters or cousins. hope i helped!!
John the Baptist was beheaded by Herod the king. Herod did not like it that John told him he was a sinner.
Saint John was called by Jesus while he was fishing with his brother, Saint James, on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus called out to them and they immediately left their fishing boats and followed Him, becoming two of His twelve apostles.
St. Elizabeth, mother of St. John the Baptist
The Gospels talk about the life and death of Jesus. There are four: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
John the Baptist was the "voice in the wilderness" that spoke of the coming messiah. John asked people to repent and baptized people in the Jordan river. When Jesus came to him, John told his followers to follow him instead. John said "he must increase and I must decrease". John was an apostle of Jesus who traditionally wrote the Book of John (Fourth Gospel). John was the brother of James, known as the sons of Zebedee and also Sons of Thunder because they had tempers. John writes of John the Baptist in the Gospel starting with John 1:6.
