Alexander the Great was the son of the Macedonian king Phillip II. He ruled from 336 BCE to 323 BCE.
King Phillip II of Macedon was the father of Alexander the Great. Phillip was sent to Thebes as a teenager from his stepfather. There he learned Theban military tactics and developed great military skills. Thebes was known for it's great cavalry and a very professional military. Phillip's step dad was removed as king. When this happens, Phillips brother takes over and brings Phillip back and puts him in charge of their military. He introduced the Macedonian phalanx. Not long ager, Phillip's brother died in battle and his troops were severely beaten. Phillip becomes king but his military is weak. People in the North & West are trying to invade. He united Greek leagues and wanted to defeat the Persians. Bribing, diplomacy, etc. is used to unite Greece. Phillip was assassinated during a wedding reception. After his assassination, Alexander became king at age 20. Phillip was known for establishing control over the Greek poleis for his son Alexander the great.
Besides being father and son, Alexander the Great and Phillip the II both ruled Greece, were victorious in was, and they were both taught by scholars.-Ava :)
