Jean Talon was a Frenchman sent to Canada to govern New France. He tried to promote agriculture over fur trading and sought new settlers. He imported 800 women to marry in Canada and gave bonuses for weddings and children.
Jean Talon took all the settlers from France and convinced them to come to New France, by giving them free land they can build on. He emptied France, and filled New France.
