"Pepsi" was originally called "Brad's Drink" and it is rumored that the name changed to Pepsi because of one of its ingredients; Pepsin (a digestive aid). NOTE: that most cola's "back then" were tonics served at pharmacies and advertised some type of health benifit.

Would using the name Pepsi for the name of a cat on a report be considered plagiarism?

Of corse not! I think Pepsi is cute but you could call the company if needed... If they dont agree I wouldn't. Or forget the whole "Pepsi" thing and find a new name. I am sure there is someone else who called an actual cat Pepsi.
