· Saturn is named after the Roman god Saturn. In other mythologies Saturn is supposed to be equal to the Greek Kronos, the Babylonian Ninurta and the Hindu God Shani.

The English names for all of the planets, except Earth, come from the names of Gods in Roman mythology. Saturn is named after the god Saturnus. Saturnus was the Roman god of agriculture. This is also where we get the word Saturday from.

Many languages, not only the Romance languages derived from Latin, use variations of that name. But some languages use other names for the planet we call Saturn. For example, in Greek, the name is Kronos. Sanigrah is the name for that planet in Hind and Makulu is the name in Hawaiian.
Saturn got its name from the roman godess of mythology and agriculture. The god's name was Saturnus
