On the morning of September 3rd, 1928, he was having a clear up of his cluttered laboratory. he was sorting through a number of glass plates which had previously been coated with bacteria as part of his research, one of the plates had mould on it. The mould was in the shape of a ring and the area around the ring seemed to be free of the bacteria. The mould was penicillium notatum.
Alexander Fleming did not create anything. He was a Scottish biologist and pharmacologist known for discovering the antibiotic substance penicillin in 1928, which revolutionized medicine and saved countless lives by treating bacterial infections. Fleming's discovery was a breakthrough in the field of antibiotics.
They were British. They did not create the penicillin. It was discovered by Sir Alexander Fleming. Chan and Flory worked on the discovery.
Because it was excreted too quickly by the human body, which reduced its ability to kill the bacteria.
Fleming stumbled across the Penicillium bacterium by accident; he didn't mean to create the drug. When he discovered that the mold could kill other bacteria in a Petri dish, he wondered if the same could happen inside the human body, and started experimenting until he came up with penicillin. Now, penicillin is one of the most widely-used antibiotics. The drug was named after the mold it comes from, Penicillium. The mold looks like a brush under the microscope, and "penicillus" means "small brush" in Latin.

Mold can be used to create drugs such as penicillin.
Penicillin was one of the first antibiotics to be discovered and is still widely used today. The drug is actually derived from the Penicillium mold. The first person to notice Penicillin was French medical student, Ernest Duchesne in 1898. In 1928, bacteriologist Alexander Flemming, working at St. Mary's Hospital in London, re-discovered the popular antibiotic.
