Why are cupcakes called cupcakes?

Because back then they used to put cupcakes in an actual cup and bake the cake then some one invented a cupcake holder to put them in and the cupcakes are made out of cake mix, which are now baked in little paper or foil cups.

well first of all, they contain sugar,fat and carbs ( unfortunately so you have to watch you're calories when you eat them :P ). The reason we like sugar, fats and carbs is because they give us ENERGY. Even though we don't really need energy stores these days ( we can easily just pop into Sainsbury's when we feel a bit peckish right?) , when we were prehistoric people, it was a bonus to have food and we used up at lot of energy hunting and looking for it and we would sometimes have to survive for days without food. Another reason why we like cupcakes is because they look awesomely fantastic!
