Anubis has been representative of many different items, but all of them are involved with death. He was originally the putrefaction god. The he became a god of protection against robbers stealing from the dead. Some embalmers have looked to him as their patron god, too.

Anubis was a Egyptian god; hence his aide of the Egyptian people. He was, however, largely a god associated with death being the god of embalming and protector, guide and tester of the dead in the Duat (underworld).

Anubis took out the dead Pharaoh's heart and weighed it on against the feather of truth. That helped Anubis figure out if the pharaoh was good or bad. If the pharaoh was good, it would continue it's life and go on to the next world. If the pharaoh was bad, then it will not go on to next world, it will get eaten b y Ammit, The Devourer.........
