The decided on a new central government, however, the fear of a tyranny that a new central government might create caused them to rely on Enlightenment thinkers of Europe, who still had monarchies. Nevertheless, the Framers drew on these ideas to form three branches in the new Federal government. They created a balance of power by creating a Judicial branch, legislative branch and an executive branch. The basic idea was to divide power and prevent a tyranny.
