How did prophet Muhammad marry Khadijah?

The most important gain was that she was a woman who truly loved him, and he loved her. They had six children. Sure he didn't accept to marry her for her wealth for the following reasons: # The reputation of Muhammad was well know in Makkah (or Mecca) and was known as the wise, trustful, the honest. # khadija, through work with him, recognized how he is honest, faithful, and trustful. # Although he was poor money wise but he was from the most famous family in Makkah (or Mecca) and his grandfather had very reputation and was rich in money and character # Khadija understood that he would be an important figure among Arabs as one of her slaves told her about the miracles happened to him during his trading trip to the currently called Syria and Lebanon. # He didn't ask her for marriage but she was the one that asked to marry him. # He recognized through working with her that she is well minded and wise enough to be his wife. # He didn't use her money neither for himself nor for her but distributed this money as charity for the poor. When Mohammed reported that he had been terrified in Hiraa cave when he saw Jibreel, Khadija was the one who encouraged him and supported him by saying ''Allah would never let you down, you help the poor, and honor your relatives so fear nothing''. She introduced him to her cousin who had converted to Christianity, Waraqa Ibn Nawfal who let him calm down and explained to him his fate, he said: I wish I'd be strong when they will expel you out of Makkah! Prophet Muhammad exclaimed: would they expel me?! Waraqa replied: yes, no one came with what you came with but had enemies. He told him that if he would be alive he would support him in spreading his religion of Islam. So, prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gained a big heart that stood firmly besides him.

In what way did Muhammad's marriage to Khadija contributed to his success as a religious leader?

it gave him the freedom to meditate on the destiny of humanity.Khadijah's financial support had a great role in strengthening Islam during its prime days, when it was still in the formation stage and critically needed material aid. Allah foreordained Khadijah's property to help Islam and fulfill its goals. Muhammad said in this regard:"No property has ever been so useful to me as Khadijah's." While in Mecca, the Prophet used this property to free slaves, help the needy, support the poor and rescue his financially inflicted companions. He also paved the way for those who wished to immigrate; all this through Khadijah's wealth from which he spent freely during her life; and when she died, he and her children inherited it.Therefore, the meaning of the Islamic Prophet's saying becomes clear: "Religion succeeded and became manifest only through Ali's sword and Khadijah's property."
