It came, naturally, with the inclusion of the pagan Gentiles into God's plan of Salvation; with their pre-learned and pre-taught gods, customs, traditions and practices that they brought in with them.

Paul fought against these insinuating perversions during his entire ministry to the Gentile churches.

"So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter." (II Thess.2:15 NIV)

Yet, with Paul's death... in the absence of his efforts to deter and hold these things back... the heathen customs and traditions of the Gentiles were afforded greater access into future "apostate" generations of the churches.

"...For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of His mouth and destroy by the Splendor of His coming." (verses 7-8)
