The new character, Yuri was a friend of Makarov, but was then betrayed so Makarov tried to kill Yuri. So Yuri and Soap were in a building, coated with hidden C4s for Makarov to detonate and kill Yuri, but Soap notices the bomb and pushes Yuri off the building with him falling also. Yuri landed on a balcony, but Soap hit the ground hard and a metal pipeline fell on him. Yuri put Soaps arm around his neck and carried him to safety, and Price did the same. But sadly, he was bleeding out so much, he couldn't make it. R.I.P John Soap Mactavish.

Yes he dies, he falls onto a metal rod. Soap leaves him there but when Soap and Makarov are fighting Yuri comes back and shoots Makarov with a P99 but Makarov shoots him with a Desert Eagle and Yuri dies.

No he doesnt die and neither does price you rescue price in MW2 But he does die in Mw3 because when he was stabbed (it was healed) but then it reopened when he tried to save Yuri when they were trying to kill Makarov. Yuri is Nikolais loyalist friend who also has a grudge against Makarov.
