a lot of the music from the 60's era was about freedom and coming together as a people, when so many things were going on outside of the music scene that were hateful. the 60's were a time when color/race was becoming a non-issue and people could get together as one and unite and be free. also, a lot of drugs were not yet legalized and were used openly in public, and drugs are known to alter one's mind. so, a lot of new and different ideas were coming about and America saw a change.
